Kastraki,
Kastraki is the small village under the rocks. Kalambaka is the bigger town 2 km away. Most tourists stay in Kalambaka because the hotels are bigger — but Kastraki is closer to the monasteries and quieter at night. From our door: Agios Nikolaos Anapausas is 15–20 minutes on foot, the other monasteries are 5–10 minutes by car, Kalambaka train station is 2.2 km. The whole area is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
